I am writing to request that you support adding HR 8438 Belarus Democracy, Human Rights, and Sovereignty Act of 2020 as an amendment to the omnibus appropriations bill. HR 8438 enjoys broad bipartisan support both in the House and the Senate, including the committee leadership. As Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya said in her December 4, 2020 Washington Post op-ed (https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/12/04/people-belarus-are-still-marching-against-dictatorship-us-can-help/), it is critical to me and the Belarusian people that the Congress pass HR 8438 before the end of the 116th Session.
